NMAT (Narsee Monjee Aptitude Test) is an entrance exam conducted by GMAC (Graduation Management Admission Council). Registration for the exam will commence from the first week of August 2024. Aspiring candidates for MBA admissions in top B-Schools of India or abroad can appear for NMAT exam 2024 three times during the test window of around 70 days. Generally, the NMAT exam dates fall between October to December. Candidates are free to schedule the exam date within the test portal using the NMAT exam scheduling process. NMAT exam portal will be facilitated on the login dashboard to for all candidates who complete the NMAT registration and fill application form.
Know about NMAT
What is NMAT? NMAT by GMAC is a national-level entrance test conducted for MBA admissions at NMIMS University and other reputed B-School in India and abroad as well. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies conducted NMAT until GMAC took over the authority. NMAT is designed to keep the test-taker’s convenience in mind. Candidates can choose the exam date and venue preference during the exam portal using the NMAT scheduling option. NMAT shares some features with GMAT as candidates are allowed to choose the preferred date during a testing window as well as self-schedule the test, time and venue, and appointment date based on the availability of seats at the preferred test center. The national-level entrance exam, NMAT, is conducted annually during the test window of specified days. NMAT by GMAC score is based on the performance of candidates in three sections, namely, language, skills, quantitative skills and logical reasoning.
The difference between NMAT and other MBA entrance exams
The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) conducts NMAT exam with an aspirant first approach. Hence, GMAC provides several facilities, including the retake attempts, rescheduling window, etc. Unlike other MBA entrance exams, the NMAT exam is held over a period of approximately 90 days. The aspiring candidate can appear for the test three times during this window, including the first attempt and two retake attempts. This opportunity is provided to the candidates to improve their performance. In the previous session, an additional phase of the exam was conducted from January 11 to 15. During the additional window, candidates who did not appear for all three attempts were allowed to apply for NMAT exam for all three attempts were allowed to apply for NMAT exam for an improved score.
Number of questions asked in the NMAT exam
According to the NMAT exam pattern, around 108 questions are asked from three sections collectively. Each section of NMAT exam has about 36 questions. The sections for NMAT exam with question weightage is as follows:
- Language Skills: 36
- Logical Reasoning: 36
- Quantitative Skills: 36
Candidates need to answer all the question 120 minutes. The 120 minute time-frame of NMAT exam is divided into sectional time frames. Questions under each section must be answered within the specified time limit. The distribution of questions may vary from year to year. The exam is designed to assess a candidate’s ability in these areas by examining their language skills, numeric abilities, and logical thinking abilities. Appropriate studying and time management are essential for NMAT exam achievement, which is commonly utilized for admissions to many MBA schools.

What is the Test window in NMAT?
NMAT is an esteemed MBA entrance exam, having a 70 to 90-day testing window. For NMAT 2022, GMAC conducted under a 70-day window from October 10 to December 19. Candidates can schedule the test as per convenience and individual preparation level, they can use the advantage of three attempts within this exam window. In case, the candidates are not satisfied with their performance level, they can use the advantage of three attempts in NMAT. Test takers can book test slots as per convenience and readiness to give the test.
The mode of NMAT exam
The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) conducts NMAT exam in an online mode. Online NMAT exam is conducted from Pearson VUE centres situated across India. Candidates need to appear at the chosen test centre to appear for the computer based NMAT exam. At the NMAT centre, each candidate logs in to the computer system, the responses will be recorded against the test taker ID. Further, the test taker ID will be helpful while evaluating performance of individual test takers.
NMAT Application Process 2024
The first step of the admission process starts starts with filling the NMAT 2024 Application form. Candidates can complete the NMAT exam registration within the stipulated time. Only the candidates submitting the application form and scheduling the exam are issued NMAT 2024 admit card. NMAT registration process is available online and candidates need to create a login ID and password to complete the online registration process. Candidates must pay INR 2,800 (excluding GST) against the application fee and slot booking the exam. The fee can be paid online using Debit Card, Mobile wallet and other options.
After NMAT registration, the test reschedule option is enabled in the student account. To reschedule the NMAT exam reschedule option in less than 72 hours from the date and schedule of the test. NMAT rescheduling steps can also be completed through the same candidate dashboard. The retake fee is INR 2,800 and the rescheduling fee is 1,200.
NMAT Eligibility 2024
The exam conducting authority has specified the below mentioned eligibility requirements before NMAT registration.
- Candidate must have completed graduation under 10+2+3 or four years of education pattern from any stream.
- A minimum aggregate of around 50% in the final year of graduation is must.
- Candidates awaiting results or in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for NMAT 2024. Admission is granted on a provisional basis until the graduation mark sheet and certificate of the qualifying examination are submitted.
Candidates must also keep in mind to check the eligibility criteria of NMAT participating colleges individually before registering for the examination. Application requires to select five institutes of their preference for admission while applying and those institutes may vary in eligibility criteria for admission.
