1. Introduction to the CAT exam
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) anually. It is a computer based test (CBT) that evaluates a candidate’s overall aptitude in areas like Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR). 2. Creating your CAT account
Before you can start filling out the CAT application form, you need to create an account on the official CAT website. Provide your basic information, choose a password, and you’re ready to begin.
3. Registration
Once registered using your credentials, you will receive an OTP for verification. After verification, you will receive an user id and password. You can use you user id and password for further login to the CAT portal.
4. Personal information section
In this section, you need to enter your personal details, including your name, date of birth, gender, contact information, and category. You will also need to upload a photograph, signature and caste certificate. The dimension for the scanned image of passport size photo is updated to 1200 X 1200 pixels.
5. Academic details section
Once done with the personal information section, you will fill the information about your educational background, that will include your high school and college details. Make sure to enter accurate information.
6. Work experience section
If you are a candidate with work experience you need enter all your professional journey details which will include your organization’s name, your designation, and the duration of your employment.
7. Selecting preferred MBA programs
Choose the IIMs and other MBA programs you wish to apply to. Research your options and make selections based on your preferences and eligibility.
8. Uploading documents
You’ll need to upload scanned copies of your passport-sized photograph, signature, and any required certificates. Make sure to upload the documents as per the specified size and format provided.
9. Previewing and editing the application
Before finalizing, review the information that you have entered. This is your chance to correct if you have made any error while filling the form.
10. Making the application fee payment
Pay the application fee online through the provided payment gateways. You can keep a record of the transaction details for any future reference.
Major changes made in CAT 2023 application
- Applicants for CAT 2023 can select up to six test cities (as per their preference) for the CAT examination.
- Starting from CAT 2023, your work experience after graduation will be counted in days instead of months.
- For CAT 2023, few test cities are clubbed into one. For example, Noida and Greater Noida are not considered as separate test cities anymore. These cities are made as one in CAT application form. Likewise, Faridabad and Gurgaon are also clubbed as one test city.
- The registration fees for CAT 2023 at IIMs have been raised to Rs. 2400. Previously the amount for registration was Rs. 2300. The candidate needs to pay the registration fees (non- refundable) only once, irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for.
